Week 17
Hi Everyone!
There has been some exciting weather here the last few days. We had to go to our tornado shelter about three times this last weekend. Our shelter is in our basement so we don't have to go far. It has been kind of nice to get to know the younger sister missionaries since our shelter is also their shelter. Just as I'm writing this email I just got notification of another tornado watch! This is tornado season. I have been through it many times before when I lived in Texas.
This last week we have been busy as usual. On Tuesday we went to the assisted living center as usual. The ladies we usually visit were sick so we just had a prayer with them and then left. We were supposed to read scriptures with a lady in our branch, but she was sick also. She wanted us to bring her some chicken soup. We had another sister, Sister Waterson, that had just gotten home from the hospital and wanted to know if we could bring her family dinner. We got a call from the husband of an inactive sister that we had visited several times. She had been in the hospital for the last week and a half. We visited her almost everyday. Her husband wanted to know if we could help him get her in the house since she was coming home from the hospital. We told him we would be there. He drives but needs a walker to get around so he needed help getting her from the car to her wheelchair and into the house. We spent a couple of hours with him and his wife.
We got back to our house and tried to figure out what to take to the Wateron's for dinner. We had about an hour to make the dinner and get it there before we went to teach the English class we are teaching once a week. It is about 30 miles from here so we didn't have much time. We looked in our refrigerator and saw we had some already cooked ground beef seasoned for tacos. So we decided to take them tacos, or they could make a taco salad out of the fixings. So one meal solved. We also happen to have some frozen chicken soup that I had made a few weeks ago. Meal two solved! So we heated the soup and the ground beef and delivered the two meals on our way out of town to teach our English class. By now it was about 5:30 and our class is from 6:00-7:00. We got home about 7:30 and were finally able to eat our dinner. This is one day in the life of a MLS missionary!
We have another inactive sister we are trying to help. She is going through a divorce. Anyway, we thought that what would really help her would be the Emotional Resilience class. So we are starting one next week. It will be 2 hours long on Tuesdays. We have several other ladies that are also planning on being in the class. It Should be really good! I'm looking forward to helping facilitate this class.
As my companion and I were looking over this last week and the things that we accomplished, we could tell that the Lord's hand was there guiding us to accomplish the things that needed to be done. Some things were canceled (not our choice) and other things came up in their place which gave us the time to do what needed to be done. I am truly enjoying being a missionary! There is never a dull moment and I know the Lord will bless us for all of our efforts.
A really nice thing this last week was that we were able to attend the temple twice! We went once to take a sister who wanted to go, but couldn't go on her own. The second time was for a sister in our branch who was getting her own endowment. It was so good to be in the temple!
Take care and I'll try writing again next week!
Love,
Sister Tuha
