Week 69?

Hello Everyone! It's been a busy week again! This week we did clean checks again. We have 15 apartments to check in two cities. It usually takes us 2 days to complete them. We also dress up to lighten the anxiety involved in clean checks, both the Elders and Sisters apartments being checked and us checking them. Last time we checked apartments we dressed as bunnies. There were a couple of Elders who didn't have the best attitudes or clean apartments. So, this time before we went out we decided to pray that they would have good attitudes and very clean apartments. We went as referee's and only had to give 2 penalties! A traveling violation (Elders were late getting to their apartment) and a Technical because it caused us to be later for our next appointment. The Elders laughed at our novice attempts to give the right signals for the penalties. Their apartment was very clean! So were all the rest of the apartments we checked! The attitudes were great! We will always remembe...

Hi Ev eryone, Time goes so fast! I always start with that because it is the truth. I know it's been several weeks since I wrote. Sorry about that! Time just gets away from me. Anyway, besides that, everything is going well. There are only 2 of us now since Sis.Sharp has gone home. SIs. Ward is my only companion now. We get along great. We have found out that we are both from Spanish Fork and live about a mile away from each other. She has extended her mission so that we will be going home at the same time. If she didn't extend her mission, mine might have been cut a little short. The church doesn't like for us to be by ourselves. So, thanks to Sis. Ward for extending her mission about 6 weeks so I can complete mine!  We are still knocking on doors and handing out quotes. We are working on some new ones in hopes that maybe they will touch someone in some way. We had a baptism last month. She was the wife of our convert that was baptized in November. I was able to gi...

Week 52

Our blizzard!  Hello Everyone! Well, my first year has come and gone! Time passes so quickly! To catch you up since I've not written for a couple of weeks.New Year's Day eve we went to the assisted living center where we visit with a couple of ladies who seldon get visitors. We read 3 Nephi chapter 11 where the Savior comes to the Americas. The spirit was really strong. One of the ladies was in tears she was so moved by the scripture. We also showed them the video of Christ appearing to the people in the Americas. It is a beautiful video. If you haven't seen it, you should watch it. It's on the library app. These two ladies we visit are in the beginning stages of dementia. They don't really remember anything we read to them, but they do remember the spirit that is there when we come. They always enjoy our visits just as much as we do. We call bingo at another assisted living center. We go there  at 2:00  in the afternoon. The ladies and men that are there...

Week 55

Hello Everyone! Time keeps marching on! It's February already! Since I'm the activity person for RS. We planned and activity for Jan 16., a Saturday. It was a Family History Activity. We had a lady in our branch that has been writing in her journals for 50 years! she even makes her own paper and journals. She talked to us about journaling and how important it becomes to our posterity. She has done so many journals. After she spoke to us we broke into 3 groups. One was on journaling, (how to get started, what kind of journal to keep, what to say etc.) Another group was Family Tree. This group had a picture of a tree and they were able to put names on the branches. Once framed, it could be hung on the wall. The last one was on technology. We wanted everyone to have "Family Tree" app on their phone or computer as well as the library app. I was over this group and the little technology I knew was more than most of the sisters there so that was good for me. We had a lunc...

My companions and me and our tree.   Hello Everyone! Merry Christmas! I can't believe it's Christmas already! Today is Christmas Eve and I'm thinking back about 2000 years to when Christ was born.... We went the assisted living center this morning. We visit two ladies each week. This week we planned on singing Christmas Carols and showing them a video of the birth of our Savior. That is exactly what we did! The ladies we were visiting were singing right along with us. Their mental capacities may be waning, but their spirits are in sync with the times. We showed the video from the Gospel Library. Here is the link.  https://www. churchofjesuschrist.org/study/ video/christmas-messages/2019- 09-0050-the-christ-child-a- nativity-story-lighttheworld? lang=eng As we started to show these two ladies the video ( we have shown them several church videos before) the sister of one of the ladies walked in and joined us in watching this video. When the video was over she said, "Wher...

My Texas family! Two sons, two daughters, spouses and children! Hello Everyone! As usual this last month has just whizzed by! We have had 2 baptisms this past week! It is so wonderful to have new members join our little branch!  Thanksgiving week was really great! I got permission to go to Texas and spend the week with my four children and their families. It was sooooo good to see them. I drove 3 hours to Wichita, Kansas and picked up my oldest daughter at the airport so she could drive with me the rest of the way. 5 1/2 hours. It was so nice to have her along on the drive to Texas. It was so nice to be able to spend a day or so with each of my children and their families! For Thanksgiving we had so much food. Each person made something and several people made more than one dish. It was all so good! We all went to see Moana 2 which was pretty good. I participated in "White Friday" while in Texas. In case you don't know what White Friday is, it's spending time in th...

This is at the KC Temple. Our RS temple trip . Hello Everyone! As usual we have been busy! This week when we did our planning we only had a few days to plan for. Our DCM is on Friday this week and our Zone Conference is on Wednesday, we go to Topeka to help categorize some nativities that will be on display in December. So three days in a row we are going to Topeka! This last week we were able to go to the temple twice! We had planned on going last Thursday and then the Relief Society moved their temple trip to the 9th. So went two times this last week. There were nine of us that went. Our member Aletha was so excited! she hadn't been to the temple in 6 years! When she got to the celestial room she was in tears. She was so happy she had made it back to the temple. Last Monday we had a dinner roll making class here. We have had several branch members over for dinner and I have made rolls to go with the dinner. Several people have wanted my recipe. So my companions suggested t...
