| This is at the KC Temple. Our RS temple trip |
Hello Everyone!
As usual we have been busy! This week when we did our planning we only had a few days to plan for. Our DCM is on Friday this week and our Zone Conference is on Wednesday, we go to Topeka to help categorize some nativities that will be on display in December. So three days in a row we are going to Topeka!
This last week we were able to go to the temple twice! We had planned on going last Thursday and then the Relief Society moved their temple trip to the 9th. So went two times this last week. There were nine of us that went. Our member Aletha was so excited! she hadn't been to the temple in 6 years! When she got to the celestial room she was in tears. She was so happy she had made it back to the temple.
Last Monday we had a dinner roll making class here. We have had several branch members over for dinner and I have made rolls to go with the dinner. Several people have wanted my recipe. So my companions suggested that we have a roll making class. Since I usually don't use a recipe, I just dump and pour. I had to figure out what the recipe is then teach it to the sisters we invited to come. Both of the sisters we invited came! We got the dough ready to raise. Eden, one of the sisters making rolls, needed help with her lesson for young women. Sister Sharp helped her while the dough was rising. Cate, the other sister, wanted help on her crocheting. Sister Ward helped her with that. By the time the rolls were done, Eden had learned how to access her lessons on the Library app. We also taught her how to highlight things in the scriptures. She found out that we were reading scriptures to different ladies in the evening. She wanted us to read with her too! So, not only did we read with Eden, we also read with her son and her husband! We were so excited to be able to begin reading with them. Cate can't drive because of medical reasons, so we offered to take her to the store or on errands if she would like. These are 2 ladies that our Branch President asked us to work with and help. We are so excited to be able to help! We have another roll making class later this week.
Last Wednesday we went to Topeka for DCM. The weather was getting so bad that Pres. Elliot, a counselor in the Mission Presidency, said that the weather was so bad in Hiawatha that he didn't want us to drive back home. He invited us to spend the night with him and his wife at their home in Topeka. We got home the next morning and found that Hiawatha had had some bad winds, but Falls City, Nebraska, about 10 miles from Hiawatha was hit with 90 mile per hour winds. We went there the next day to visit a member and saw that her home had quite a few shingles blown off. Next door to her was a house that had been damaged by a fallen tree. The roof was caved in. As we drove around the neighborhood we could see a lot of downed trees and other homes that had even more damage. We were glad we missed this storm. I'll attach a picture of one of the houses.
We went to our Stake conference last Sunday. The area 70 that was presiding was my companion's nephew! It was so good to be able to talk with him. It is amazing to me how the church works. My testimony that Jesus Christ is the head of this church is even stronger now than ever. Our prophet gets his direction straight from the Lord and passes it down the priesthood "chain of command" to us. We can have our own revelation to know if it is true or not. But it's always true coming from the Lord himself. Our doctrine comes straight from Jesus Christ. I've always known this, but it was revealed to me very powerfully this last week.
Last Thursday we got a call from the young proselytizing sisters. They asked what do you do when you have an accident with a deer? We asked if they were okay, and they were. We said to call 911 and explain what happened. We also told them to let us know where they were and we would go pick them up. It was about 8:30 pm. When we got to where they were, about 15 miles from our house, the police were already there. They didn't even have to call 911! They just showed up. We waited until their car was towed away then we took them home. The mission sent a replacement car the next afternoon. It's amazing how things happen here in the mission field! There were many miracles with this accident. No one was injured, the police just showed up at the right time, and we were home and available to pick them up! We worship a God of miracles!
Here's the thought I gave for the branch council this last Sunday.
God can make much more out of our lives than we can---- if we will let him. HOW?
FAITH - The purpose of faith is not to change God's will, but to empower us to act on God's will. Faith is trust - trust that God sees what we cannot see and that He knows what we do not."
Love,
Sister Tuha
