Week 15
Hello Everyone!
Time is going soooooo quickly! It seems April started a couple of days ago and now it's nearly over! We have been doing a lot of visiting still. We haven't yet made it to all of the inactive people in our branch! Seventy percent are inactive. We have been going almost every day to visit a member who is in the hospital. She is in her 80"s and is just skin and bones. Everytime we go there she perks up and gets a smile on her face. She is such a sweet woman but hasn't been active in the church for a long time. We try to leave a message with her everytime we visit. I don't think she understands some of what we say. She does say that she loves Jesus and that's always good!
We went to Topeka for Stake Conference on Saturday. We left our house about 10 AM.We visited a couple of sisters on our way. We always try to visit people on our way to or from Topeka because our boundaries are so big! When we got to Topeke we had to run some errands before our 4:30 leadership meeting. We got them all done but one. After our leadership meeting, which was wonderful, they had a dinner prepared for us to eat before the adult session started at 7:00. This session was really good, Some of the things I learned are; that we are all in the same geographical space for a reason. This was an interesting thought that I hadn't considered before. Something to think about...... Another is that Heavenly Father is always seeking of ways to bless us. Sometimes he can't because some of our actions are in the way of receiving those blessings. Time spent in the temple is one of the best things we can do.
The Lord gives us promises. These promises have no expiration date. Sometimes promises are fulfilled piece by piece. These are just a few of the things that were talked about at conference that made an impression on me.
After the last session, which finished about 8:30, we wanted to finish our last errand, but we hadn't checked into our hotel yet. We decided to finish our errands even though the store was closing in 15 minutes! We went to the Dollar Store where we had been before. We wanted 2 more easels for a project we were working on. We also needed some green stuff for a flower arrangement. We looked and looked for the easels we needed. We couldn't find them anywhere. So we got the green stuff we needed and were walking back by where the easels had been (when we were there a few days ago) and where we were looking and looking just a few minutes before. As we walked by again there were 2 easels just sitting there! It was like someone had just put them there just for us! Miracles do happen! We were very excited to find them. We checked out and left about one minute before 9:00. We were so glad we had been successful at finishing our errands and getting everything we needed!
We checked into our Hotel and promptly went to sleep!. We got a hotel instead of driving the hour and 20 minutes from Hiawatha to Topeka because we were attending the Sunday Session of Stake Conference in the morning and didn't want to drive home and back again in the morning. Not quite like Utah is it?
The Sunday session was very good as well. Since we were there in Topeka, we went early to practice with the choir to sing in the conference. That was a great experience! So was the conference! Our mission president and his wife spoke. President Barr spoke about being anchored in Christ and to be able to see as Christ sees. Overall it was a wonderful conference! It wasn't until after we got home that we remembered that they were serving lunch to all the missionaries! We totally missed out on that!.
Love,
