Week 30

 Hello Everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well! I'm doing great. We have been very busy as usual. We were able to visit a few less active members that we were not able to find home before, which is great. The two women we found were very friendly! There is hope that someday they will come back to our branch. We have also found out that 3 of the families we had been trying to visit had moved and are no longer in our branch. This is always nice to find out so their records can be passed along to where they need to be. One of these sisters had lived way out of town. When we got to her house we saw a very old house that could really use a paint job. (not from us though haha). It was fenced and inside the fence were about 5 dogs. (Everyone in Kansas has dogs it seems). We are pretty leary of going where there are dogs! Many of these dogs are not friendly! Anyway, we got out of the car and we saw a man mowing the lawn. The dogs were barking like crazy and he couldn't hear us talking. He stopped mowing the lawn and came through the gate to meet us. As we talked to him, we found out that the person we were looking for had moved to another town outside of our branch. We knew that the Lord had guided us to be there at that particular time so that we could find out this information. Otherwise, we would have seen the dogs and not knocked on the door and wouldn't have gotten to talk to anyone. Things like this happen every day.

Several times we have been going to leave town and the train comes just after we pass the tracks. This is always a blessing because the trains here are very L O N G !! One day I waited for 35 minutes for the train to pass through. It had totally stopped! So when we miss the train we feel very blessed. One day we had been in Topeka for DCM and then did about 7 apartment checks. We then went to Lawrence and did another 8 apartment checks. It was around 8 pm when we were getting back into town. We were tired , hungry and it had been a very hot day. As we were coming into town we saw the train lights flashing. I immediately thought OH NO!! As we got close to the tracks, the train lights stopped flashing and turned off. We had just missed the train! Apparently, the train had already gone through and the lights were just turning off. This may seem like a little thing, but to us that evening was a blessing ! A tender mercy from the Lord, thanking us for all we had done that day. We are constantly being blessed!

Our garden is in full swing. We have gotten plenty of squash, cucumbers, tomatoes and a few peas. It is so hot here that the peas and spinach didn't do very well. Everything else is growing! We've had some bug problems (our bean's leaves look lacy) the Japanese beetles here love the green bean leaves. Soap and water works great to get rid of them, but then it rains and it has to be sprayed all over again!

I hope you all have a great week!

Love Sister Tuha
