Week 37

 Hello Everyone!

I 'm so amazed at how the time seems to be flying by! The Lord said that things would be hastened in the last days. It's definitely the last days because time is speeding by! We have had some great experiences!

Before I forget, like I did in my last letter, I need to thank all of my family and friends for the birthday wishes and birthday cards. I think my children and grandchildren really out did themselves! I was getting birthday cards for the 2 weeks before my birthday. I got a total of 61 cards! What was really entertaining was my companions watching me open my cards! I have the tradition of sending a $10 bill to each of my grandchildren on their birthdays. I have done this for years. The funny thing is that this year most all of them sent me a $10 bill! I had to laugh out loud!  Each card I got had wonderful birthday wishes for me and a $10 dollar bill or more. My companions were getting quite a kick out of watching me open the cards. Thank you so much each and every one of you for the birthday cards, the birthday wishes and money! I'm not sure which of my kids thought of this but I loved every card that was sent! Thanks again!! I heard birthdays when you're on a mission are special, but this one really was special!

We are continually visiting those who are less active and are trying to motivate those who are needing a spiritual boost. We now have about 6 people that we are reading scriptures to on a regular basis. We really think it is helping them with their testimony. It definitely is helping ours! One of the sisters we are reading with has been a member of our Branch for 7--8 years. She will be giving her first talk in our Branch next Sunday. We have helped her a little with her talk. She seems pretty proud of herself that she accepted the invitation to talk in our Sacrament meeting. This is the first time that she had been asked. It is truly an opportunity for her to stretch herself and her testimony. She's pretty nervous but I'm sure she'll do fine.

I have a calling in our branch now. I have mentioned in a previous letter that some of the sisters in our branch are beginning to call us the "party girts" since we have had several get-togethers. I was a little surprised that my new calling is the activities coordinator for the Relief Society. Since I am really not a "party girl" at heart, this is kind of out of my comfort zone. But I do know that you grow a lot more when you are out of your comfort zone!

We had the opportunity this past week to be interviewed by an inactive young adult in our Branch. She wanted to interview us for a class she is taking. She was asking questions about the church and our feelings toward the church. During this interview we were able to bare our testimonies of the truthfulness of the gospel. We were also able to bare testimony of the restoration of the gospel and the first vision. The spirit was very strong as we testified of these truths. We are hoping that this young adult will feel of the spirit and at least be motivated a little bit by coming back to church.

We attended Zone Conference this last week! Zone conferences are always full of the spirit and a very uplifting event. We had to travel 3 hours to the conference. We left our home at 6:30 AM and didn't get back until around 7:30 pm. We had to read our scriptures with our sisters over the phone in the car on the way home. We had appointments at 6:307:00 and 7:30. The sister we were to call at 6:30 was not available. This time was wonderfully filled in when my oldest granddaughter happened to call. Of course this was not a coincidence. Our Heavenly Father has a way of giving us blessings and tender mercies. This was one for me that day. We had a wonderful conversation on FaceTime. I was able to see her cute little twin girls and her husband as well as their new home! I totally enjoyed our visit. My battery on my phone was about to die, but it lasted through the whole phone call!

That's about all for this week! I'm anxious to hear what President Nelson has for us in our General Conference that is coming soon. He always has a way of letting us know the second coming is getting closer and closer. I'm excited for what this conference will bring!

Love you all,
Sister Tuha
