Week 39
Hello Everyone!
I think I always start my letters out by saying how fast time is flying by! It's been no different the last couple of weeks. Would you believe my mission is half over? The time has gone so fast. It says in D & C 88:73 Behold, I will hasten my work in its time. It must be time because time is going so fast.
We, as usual, have been pretty busy. If you remember in my last letter I told you about a lady in our branch that was going to give her first talk. She gave it last Sunday and she gave a great talk. We did help her some, but she is the one who put it together. We had two stake visitors, both of them commented on this sister's talk. She was so proud of herself, and we were proud of her too. She is one of the ladies that we read out of the Book of Mormon every night. It's amazing how much reading the book of Mormon can help us in our everyday lives. You can find your answer to everything by reading the book of Mormon. I had a firm testimony of this before my mission, but I know even more now that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. It is so powerful in the conversion process. If you haven't read it lately, begin reading it now. Read at least one verse a day. You will receive blessings for doing this.
We went to visit with our Relief Society President to fill her in on some of the sisters that we have visited. It was also her birthday. She is of Samoan and Hawaiian descent and had told us previously that she loved guava cake. So, for her birthday we took her a guava cake that I had made. I have to thank my oldest daughter for the recipe. She is always making delicious guava cakes! Our Relief Society President loved the cake! She was also very happy to hear our report on sisters in our branch, some that she didn't even know..
We found out this week that cookies help! We went to visit a sister who had about 10 children (his, hers, and theirs). We had been there several times before. She was not very anxious to see us again. We gave her some pumpkin chocolate chip cookies that we had made. She actually smiled and visited with us for a few minutes. We have given away quite a few cookies lately. There is one sister in our branch that has gone through a very rough time. She hasn't been active for quite awhile. She has started to let us read the Book of Mormon with her once a week. We figure this is a step in the right direction. Yes, we gave her cookies too.
I am enjoying my mission so much! I have two great companions. I have learned a lot from them and hopefully they have learned a little something from me too. We do pretty much everything together. Every once in a while we have to "divide and conquer". When we have accidently scheduled 2 things at the same time, or when we need to be in 2 places at the same time, we divide and conquer. Last week we had a Senior Missionary get together at the Mission President's home in Wichita. It was really nice and it was fun to get together with other senior missionaries. We were able to do a little sightseeing while we were there. I'll try to include some pictures.
That's all for this week!
Love,
Sister Tuha
